Con un totale di 12 premi, nuovo record, 'Game of Thrones' ha trionfato alla 67esima edizione degli Emmy Awards vincendo anzitutto il riconoscimento come miglior serie, migliore regia e migliore sceneggiatura di una serie drama.

La serie fantasy dell'Hbo aveva ricevuto 24 nomination. Hbo vincente anche nella categoria della commedia con 'Veep', soffiando di fatto il titolo di miglior serie comica al vincitore degli ultimi 5 anni, 'Modern Family'. Altra statuetta per HBO con la miniserie 'Olive Kitteridge'. Nel segno di 'Game of Thrones' anche l'Emmy per il miglior attore non protagonista in una serie drama, andato a Peter Dinklage.

Jon Hamm porta via con Mad Man il suo primo Emmy come miglior protagonista in una serie drama. Il corrispettivo premio al femminile è andato a Viola Davis, prima attrice di colore a ottenere il riconoscimento, per 'How To Get Away With Murder'. A Julia Louis-Dreyfus, per 'Veep', e Jeffrey Tambor, per la sua magistrale interpretazione di Maura, transgender nella serie 'Transparent', gli Emmy come protagonisti nella categoria della commedia per i migliori attori comici.

Ad assegnare i premi sono stati, con il loro voto, i 19'000 appartenenti all'Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
