Hollywood premia Hollywood: “Mank” ha fatto man bassa di nomination - dieci in tutto - in vista degli Oscar 2021. Il film di David Fincher sulla realizzazione di “Quarto Potere” con Gary Oldman e Amanda Seyfried (candidati come miglior attore e migliore attrice non protagonista) se la dovrà vedere con altri sette titoli per la categoria più prestigiosa, il miglior film, tra cui il chiaro front-runner “Nomadland” di Chloe Zhao.

Un altro film di una donna, “Promising Young Woman” di Emerald Fennell è in corsa per “best picture”. Zhao e Fennell sono candidate tra i cinque migliori registi: è la prima volta nella storia degli Oscar che due donne entrano nella cinquina. Una nomination postuma agli Oscar è andata a Chadwick Boseman per la sua ultima interpretazione in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.

Ancora una volta Netflix ha fatto man bassa di nomination: un totale di 35 contro le 24 dell’anno scorso (e solo due vittorie). Quest’anno la piattaforma in streaming ha tre film candidati a “best picture”: “Mank”, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” e “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.

La cerimonia degli Oscar è in programma il 25 aprile dal Dolby Theater e dalla storica Union Station di Los Angeles.
